USDA Bamboo Plant Regulation

No matter what the season is now, under the new, effected USDA Regulation for the Importation of Bamboo as of October 21, 2002:

Lucky Bamboo over 18" - these plants can only come in "without" sprouts and roots.
Our supplier of the Braided Bamboo will be shipping these plants to Nature Perfect in "All Green", only for overall height 18" and under.

Winter is Around the Corner

The growing season for Lucky Bamboo is over now. Plants shipped by farmers after September 30th will have only an inch of sprouts and small roots for the shorter Lucky Bamboo stalks which measure 18" and under. For the 24" and taller Lucky Bamboo stalks, these plants will be shipped without any leaves or roots in compliance with USDA's new Regulation.

But we think these are beautiful, and also remember, the stalks without leaves or roots are still living plants! You will enjoy the anticipation of seeing your stalks turn into plants with leaves, and with patience you can nurture these plants to have new sprouts, roots and leaves, slowly up until April. Then, after late April these plants will have roots and leaves much more quickly up until October.

We know you enjoyed the long leaves of lucky bamboo in the summertime, but the real beauty of the lucky bamboo is most of the flower, or plant cuttings die in a short time. But you have good luck when you watch the lucky bamboo cuttings from a new plant in light green colors that turn into a jade green plant with beautiful leaves. The longer the plant is with you, the longer the good luck stays with you to. This is why we call it lucky bamboo.

Plant Care

We do not recommend placing these tropical plants in soil, or cutting them in sections to try to propagate. Just keep them in clean water; and if you happen to have unhealthy water, rain water can be used... then enjoy the beauty of your plants!

As exotic plant enthusiasts we now have the opportunity to enjoy this rare and beautiful plant without leaves, or with leaves. To encourage leaves to appear on the stalks more quickly we suggest that you provide your Lucky Bamboo stalks with full spectrum light lamps (place lamps at a distance of 12" away from plant) and a warm room, above 60°F.

Plant Types and Shipments

Every bamboo shipment is shipped by Air.

Regular Bamboo:

From October 1 to April 30; short sprouts and small roots for 18" and under.
From May 1 to September 30; long leaves and lots of roots for 18" and under.
Any time and any day, no sprouts and no roots for 24" and above.
