Lucky Bamboo Imports

Where Our Plants Come From . . .
Nature Perfect assures its present and future customers that we do not import Lucky Bamboo from China, Malaysia or Thailand.

All of Nature Perfect's plants are grown in Taiwan and shipped by air freight and arrive in the United States on the same day. These plants are grown in a well-maintained and controlled environment in the farms in Taiwan with perfect climate.

Our growers in Taiwan have been cultivating Lucky Bamboo (Dracaena Sanderiana) for decades in an environment dedicated to pest-free crops.

Health and safety is of utmost importance to our growers in Taiwan. They are experts trained in the proper growing techniques and handling of lucky bamboo for export. Our growers utilize their years of knowledge and experience, necessary to produce only beautiful and pest-free Lucky Bamboo.

Packaging and shipping can be a concern when one imports/exports any product from overseas. Our growers provide the highest quality assurance in this area as well. As a result, they ship all their plants via air, to ensure that these plants arrive healthy and pest-free into the United States.

Quality Control and Assurance . . .
Lucky Bamboo (Dracaena Sanderiana) grows exceptionally well in certain climates and regions; nonetheless, it does require special handling to attain the exceptional quality, variety in size and shape and overall healthy appearance of each plant. Some may find it difficult to distinguish the quality of the plant based solely on appearance, but professional growers can observe the difference.

Our growers are well trained and are able to determine which stalks are best suited to meet Nature Perfect's high standards. We demand our growers supply plants with strong roots, lush green leaves and an overall healthy appearance.

The Selection Process . . .
Each plant is carefully selected from the net-covered nurseries where the plants are grown. The stalks are then removed from the trees, washed and treated and then placed indoors in preparation for shipment. The plants remain in this controlled environment for almost a full month until they have developed strong roots and a minimum of an inch worth of new leaf growth.

Because our growers are just as concerned with the public's health and the environment as Nature Perfect is, our growers use a mild, environmentally friendly pesticide, instead of heavy pesticides (stronger pesticides can compromise the health and integrity of the plant.) This light pesticide is applied on three separate occasions over the course of three weeks, to ensure pest-free plants.

The Shipping and Inspection Process . . .
After all these criteria are met and the plant is ready to ship, the plants are then packed in special baskets, which facilitate aeration and help maintain freshness.

The Importation of Nature Perfect Plants

We only import our plants via air cargo shipping.

The Dracaena Plants will be allowed in as follows:

Regular Lucky Bamboo

The plants are then transported to the airport where they are inspected. Once each plant passes this inspection, the shipment is then awarded a Phytosanitary Certificate from the Bureau of Animal and Plant, Health Inspection and Quarantine, Council of Agriculture issued from the Taiwanese government.

The air cargo plane arrives in the SFO on the same day it was shipped and is then sent to the USDA for examination. Once the USDA performs its stringent tests and examinations, our Lucky Bamboo is released to Nature Perfect.

It is also important to note that this process is certainly much stricter and much more costly than what the USDA requires as its minimum standards for import to the United States, but we feel the added time and expense is well worth the end result.

Other Bamboo Sellers . . .
Unfortunately, it has been brought to our attention that there are some sellers who are cutting corners at the consumer's expense. They purchase Lucky Bamboo from China, at a greatly reduced price, then have it shipped from China to Taiwan for the sole purpose of having it re-packaged. This practice is done in an attempt to give the illusion that their product is actually a product of Taiwan as opposed to China. They then advertise their product as 'Lucky Bamboo from Taiwan at the lowest price.' We feel this practice is not only misleading and unethical, but also poses possible health risks to the American public.

The Nature Perfect Guarantee . . .
We at Nature Perfect guarantee that its Lucky Bamboo and Money Trees are grown under the best conditions for Dracaena Sanderiana in Taiwan.
